Children's Sunglasses By: Greg Round, Monday 26 July 2010

Do children need sunglasses too?

During early childhood, excessive exposure to sunlight can cause harm to the eyes of children.

What kind of harm?
Sun-burned corneas, cataracts, cancer of the eyelid and macular degeneration to name a few. This is a result of the harmful UV radiation of sunlight.

For children less than 10 years old, the risk is greatest, for retinal damage from the harmful UV radiation of sunlight. The consequences seem not to become apparent until adulthood.

Children tend to spend more time than their parents, outdoors in parks, pools, and beaches. Note: these places are where there is a lot of sun reflection!!!

Sunglasses for children must be a top priority.

Between the hours of 10am and 2pm, when the harmful UV radiation of sunlight is most dangerous, is when all children should be taught to wear sunglasses.

IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT awesome colours and styles available, in children's sunglasses...
but, to keep them safe against the harm from the sun's UV rays.
The brilliant commonality between adult and children's sunglasses is they can both provide the
SAME PROTECTION against the sun's harmful rays.

For teenagers , adults glasses would be a good fit as their faces are gaining in size and standard sizes would be suitable. But be wary of acrylic lens for Children and adults alike - not all sunglasses are alike and many will offer NO UV protection at all.

The Kontrol range focuses on just a few pairs of high quality glasses for the younger child - Cyclops and Gel Shock Mini are designed for a smaller faced adult and children as well -
